練習答案

1) A panda is a type of bear that is native to China. It is known for its distinctive black and white fur.

2) Pandas were once considered endangered because very few of them were left in the wild. Habitat loss, poaching, and low birth rates contributed to their declining population.

3) As of 2016, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) classified pandas as a vulnerable species. This means that while their population has increased, they are still at risk of becoming endangered again.

4) The tradition of gifting pandas dates back over 1,000 years. China sends pandas to other countries as a gesture of friendship and to strengthen diplomatic relationships. This tradition was revived in the 1940s and continues today.

5) Since 1984, when China sends pandas to other countries, the receiving country pays China an annual fee to keep the pandas. Half of the fees go towards the conservation of wild pandas in China. This helps fund conservation efforts and protect the pandas' natural habitat.
